Ottawa Fashion Week is moving locations yet again and will be rolling out its red carpet at Sala San Marco, in the heart of Little Italy, on Oct. 11-14.
”We are going to close off the three blocks around the hall and turn the streets into a festival. We’d love to call it fashion boulevard,” says creative director Bruno Racine, one of the owners of the four-day event.
In February, OFW’s electrifying Fall/Winter shows were staged downtown at the Westin Hotel, while previous venues include the National Gallery and Arts Court.
Racine is excited about this fall’s Preston Street location and expects the neighbourhood’s eclectic vibe will bring out even more of the capital’s fashionistas.
There will be heated tents set up outside the venue for musical performers and for market vendors. Racine expects that 20 designers will present their Spring/Summer 2013 collections.
“Imagine a mini Kodak Theatre on Preston Street. Restaurant owners will keep their kitchens open longer and we’ll dress up the street,” says Racine.
