Thursday Q&A with image guru Laura Peck
Laura Peck is vice-president of McLoughlin Media, a media training and consulting firm in Ottawa and Washington. She also teaches in the master’s of political management program at Carleton University. Since 1984, she has conducted thousands of seminars all over the world.
OCS: Who are your style icons?
LP: My mother, Coco Chanel, Jackie Kennedy, Anna Wintour, and Nicky Lang
OCS: What’s on your bedside table?
LP: Remotes, water, many magazines and books
OCS: Best home accessory?
LP: Coffee pot
OCS: Best recent fashion find?
LP: A Prada suit on sale
OCS: Whom would you invite for dinner if you could choose anyone in the world?
LP: The Obamas, the Harpers, Mark Zuckerberg, Ali Wentworth, George Stephanopoulos, and Maria Shriver (but not Arnold)

LP: “The Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi
OCS: What’s your earliest memory?
LP: Crawling on the floor and seeing my father’s shoes
OCS: Your biggest fashion faux-pas, when, where and how?
LP: A perm — it was the 80s!

LP: The births of my three children
OCS: Favourite piece of furniture?
LP: My bed, it goes up and down!
OCS: Qualities you most admire in a person?
LP: Intelligence, good communications skills, being funny, confidence, and warmth
OCS: Whom would you most like to train?
LP: The Pope, all politicians (I actually like politicians), all executives (I love my job!)
OCS: Describe a perfect day off (it can be anywhere in the world).
LP: Lying in my hammock with a coffee, my iPhone, my iPad, my magazines, my books, in my own backyard.

LP: Dale Chihuly, a glass artist

LP: Barbara Gamble, an Ottawa painter.

LP: The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama

LP: Spaghetti carbonara and lots of bread — yummy.

LP: “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele. Love that girl!

LP: Neither, I don’t drink alcohol.

LP: Le Café (at the National Arts Centre)
OCS: Person, place or thing that makes you proudest/happiest that you live in Ottawa?
LP: The Parliament buildings, all the museums, galleries and churches.

LP: I would want them to remember me as a good mother and that I love people.
